NORMAL.

what is so wrong with being normal?

You hear people always saying “be weird”, or “stay weird” and is so that people who feel they have certain personalities/likes/qualities be more confident or less ashamed. And I totally support that.

But when I hear those phrases I can’t help but wonder, what’s so wrong with being ‘normal’?

I consider myself ‘normal’ but in this case the meaning I’m using is that I have no special talent that make me stand out. Average in everything. But that will be the topic for another post.

Now, in this post, I’m not saying one is better than the other, I’m simply saying that every person is a whole new world, and everyone has a different meaning of ‘normal’. And I suppose if ‘normal’ had an opposite, it would be ‘weird’ which its meaning also varies depending on the person. And I guess this comes more to likes (or even culture).

We all have different perspectives and teachings. We all see life in different ways. And what I consider ‘normal’ you could consider it strange, and there is nothing wrong with that. We just have to learn not to judge and try to understand their feeling for that thing. Because the way that person enjoys something, you might feel the same for another. For instance, one person loves anime, but for you that is… I don’t know… let’s say ‘childish’, but you love Disney movies. So, my point is, the way you love watching Disney movies is how they love watching anime. They’re both different but you two feel the same sentiment. And that applies for food, culture, sports, ANYTHING you can think of.

Everybody is different and the same. And THAT is what makes life a little more interesting.

If it just weren’t for the hate and the need for wanting to hear something is better than the other…

like pineapple on pizza or not, I mean, who cares? As long as you’re happy, right?

NOTE: I hope I got my words across smoothly. English is not my first language so if I said something that was unclear you’re more than welcomed to ask me in the comments section. I’m open to discuss this in more details with you!😄💕

Have a wonderful day!

  1. I think the fun thing is that normal really doesn’t exist. Every single person is different, has different experiences, internalizes life differently – there’s no two people exactly alike so there’s really no “normal” to compare to. That’s why I think everyone should live their own lives and just try to be themselves! 😊

    1. exaaactly! I totally agree with you. Everyone has a different perspective of life, therefore a different ‘normal’. But for some people, being themselves can be difficult because of what society -or the majority of the people that surround him/her- considers ‘normal’ which is disappointing. I’ll just say that we just have to try express ourselves (of course if it doesn’t harm anyone) without worrying what others might think and not judge other people for being who they are or what they like. I’m glad there’s someone I can talk about this😄

      1. Your completely right! I wish society as a whole would spend more time encouraging people to celebrate and cultivate their differences (as long as they respect others and do not harm). We’re all trying to shoot for whatever we feel is “ideal” instead of being out true, enlightened, awoken selves. The world would be a different place if we valued individuality more.

  2. I’ve found your link on Community Pool. I like your post, it is about obvious truth. Unfortunately, some people cannot grasp this simple idea that there are individuals who do not go to extremes (set by their society) and just enjoy life as it is. I consider myself normal, sometimes even boring and definitely an introvert. Blogging helps to connect with people but I still feel the boundaries that I would like to cross one day. Still, nobody should think of me as weird because I’m too normal 🙂

    1. I completely agree with you! I am too ‘normal’, I have no qualities that make me ‘special’. I am average in EVERYTHING. But that is totally fine. That is what I wanted to point out in this post but I didn’t know how to explain it well. And you know, we can at least try to spread the idea that being whoever you want is fine without considering ‘normal’ or ‘weird’, aand most importantly not judge other people for doing that!
Oh, and that is also why I wanted to start a blog too. As an introvert I wanted to see if I can express myself better by writing. But it’s still a little difficult to make a 100% of my thoughts out. You put in words my exact thoughts, thank you!

      1. I’m glad I could understand your point. Probably because I’m similar. You have a lot of courage to share your thoughts. My blog is about sewing, DIY and zero waste so it presents my main interests. Consequently, I don’t express my emotions very much but I am fine only showing my hobbies to others:)

  3. “Normal” is relative to the individual so it’s quite a fluid concept (hope that makes sense to you) ..everyone is different and everyone’s idea of what is normal or abnormal varies…we should all focus less on what is “normal/weird” and just focus on being kind to each other and spreading happiness..very interesting post my dear 🙂

  4. I can totally relate myself. Mostly, when people like anime for exapmle then for others who haven’t watch it, thinks it is weird and just don’t talk to you anymore. I have to say that, we are lucky to have different personalities and cultures. It doesn’t mean that we have to like all things, but tolerating each other is already enough. You know, I wish there could be more people like you😄 Don’t worry, I’m normal too and of course I have my own weirdness on some point. However, if people don’t like me the way I am, then I’m not judging them I just don’t force my opinion to him/her. Just listening what others want to say is important and unfortunately, everybody can’t do that.
    I love your post!

    1. yesss exactly! I’m so glad we think the same thing! and you got 100% of my thoughts and put in words the things I couldn’t fit in the post (about tolerating each other is enough, the weirdness at some point, and not judging people if they don’t like us and not forcing opinions etc etc) and I thank you for that😄 And yeah and I don’t understand why people would completely define/reject a person just by something they THINK they don’t like if they haven’t tried it yet (I don’t know if that makes sense😅)
